Robert Wright: Beyond Words Exhebition

June 18th - June 20th St Marys Church

Robert WrightRobert gives a short talk to introduce the exhibition of his work at 7pm on Friday, June 18th in The Octagon at St Mary’s. The exhibition is open 10am to 4pm on June 19th and 11.30am to 4pm on June 20th

Priest-painter, Robert Wright is Sub-dean of Westminster Abbey, Rector of St Margaret’s and Speaker’s Chaplain.

Normally painting with acrylics, Robert seeks to explore the mysteries of the heart through abstract art.  His abstract paintings are not intended to be remote; they seek to comment on the inner life and to help the viewer get a direct feeling about spirituality in relation to the painting they are observing.  But just as you think you have understood Robert’s paintings you see them from an entirely different perspective because all perception is paradoxical since we can never be sure that we have “seen” all that is there, and in some way we select aspects that are forever changing as we see them, as Cézanne discovered. It is this paradoxical world, beyond words, that Robert explores in his paintings
