Jocelyn Freeman

Jocelyn FreemanLondon-based pianist Jocelyn Freeman was born 1986 and brought up near St Davids, Pembrokeshire. In 2004 she commenced her studies in piano at the Royal Academy of Music, where she held the Marylebone Association Scholarship. Her teachers there were Michael Dussek, Pascal Nemirovski, Martin Roscoe, Christopher Elton and Hilary Coates. Last April she was awarded a gold medal at the Marlow International Concerto Competition, for her “Outstanding” performance of Liszt’s second concerto. She went on to perform the concerto in St Davids Cathedral last July with the Three Counties Youth Orchestra.

Other engagements have included performances at Bristol’s Colston Hall, in Canterbury, for the Cherubim Music Trust in Wiltshire, as an accompanist in the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Vocal Scholarship competition, community outreach projects at the Wigmore Hall and Spitalfields Festival and a recital for the Peter Gould Music Trust in West Wales.

Besides playing the piano, her interests include singing, arranging and teaching piano. From September 2009 to June 2011 Jocelyn hopes to study for a Master of Arts degree at the Royal Academy of Music, specialising in chamber music, and guided by her teachers Michael Dussek and Pascal Nemirovski. Future plans include solo recitals in the Savile Club, London and Beethoven’s Archduke Trio in North London.
