Colin and Gulliver started performing together in 2000 and were quickly in great demand in theatres, festivals, churches, arts centres and stately homes around the country. They have performed in various venues in London’s West End, including in a converted Gentlemen’s lavatory. This was such a shock, that they subsequently found themselves having to perform on various small islands, including Malta and the Isle of Man, which Gulliver was disappointed to discover does not form a part of the Channel Islands.A particular aversion to the Isle of Wight developed after spending ten days sailing aimlessly around it courtesy of P&O Cruises’ ship, the Aurora. All of this travel has led Colin and Gulliver to the present show assisted, of course, by the evergreen wit of Noël Coward’s songs and sketches and those of his contemporaries and friends. The whole is woven together with their own particular brand of humour. They have been described, variously, as a combination of Kit and the Widow, Morecombe and Wise and Hinge and Bracket. In real life, Gulliver is a noted conductor and is Director of Music at the University Church, Oxford. Colin can be seen in a similar role at St Mary’s, Maldon and also, of course, as Artistic Director of the festival.
